Ananya Birla Takes Charge as Founder and Chairperson of Birla Studios, Expands Leadership into Cinema: Entrepreneur, business leader and musician Ananya Birla has taken on the role of Founder and Chairperson of Birla Studios, marking her formal entry into the film and content-production business. The position, according to her LinkedIn profile, dates back to February 2026, when Birla Studios was launched.
Birla recently announced the appointment on LinkedIn, saying she was pleased to begin her new role at Birla Studios “for the love of cinema.” The move adds entertainment and content creation to an already diverse professional portfolio spanning financial services, consumer businesses, technology, manufacturing and music.
Building a New Kind of Cinema Studio
Birla Studios was launched with the ambition of producing high-concept, prestige-driven commercial cinema that combines broad audience appeal with artistic distinction. The studio has said it intends to focus on culturally relevant stories that create an immediate emotional connection while maintaining strong entertainment value.
The studio is developing a multi-language slate, including films in Hindi, Gujarati and Malayalam, along with other regional languages and international English-language cinema. Its approach is described as genre-agnostic, with an emphasis on commercially viable projects, strong storytelling and creative ambition.

She also holds strategic and board-level responsibilities within the Aditya Birla Group, including positions associated with Hindalco and Grasim Industries.
Her professional journey also includes a significant connection to music. Birla has worked as a singer-songwriter and has been associated with international music companies, bringing a creative dimension to a career otherwise strongly rooted in entrepreneurship and business leadership.

Birla Studios’ ambitions extend beyond film production. Earlier this year, the studio partnered with Vodafone Idea to launch “Reel Se Real Star,” a mobile-first acting talent discovery initiative designed to make opportunities more accessible to aspiring actors across India.
