Idris Elba’s Hope Foundation and WME NXT Expand Creative Futures Initiative to Open New Pathways for Young Creatives: The Elba Hope Foundation, founded by Idris and Sabrina Elba, is partnering with WME NXT to expand its Creative Futures initiative and create new opportunities for young people seeking careers in the creative industries.
The collaboration will introduce a free digital professional-development program, along with in-person learning experiences in the United Kingdom and United States. The initiative is designed to give emerging creatives greater access to industry knowledge, professional networks, mentorship and potential career pathways.
New Digital Masterclass to Feature Idris Elba’s Creative Ecosystem
A central element of the partnership will be a digital masterclass developed jointly by WME NXT and Creative Futures.
Using Idris Elba’s own career as a case study, the program will explore how creative careers are built through collaboration, relationships, decision-making and opportunities across entertainment and related industries.
The program will also feature people from Elba’s wider creative and business ecosystem, offering participants an opportunity to understand the range of professionals and roles involved in bringing creative projects to life.
WME NXT subsequently announced that its NXT Industry Sessions will be a free, six-week, self-paced online program beginning October 12, with more than 18 industry speakers, including Idris Elba, WME clients and WME employees.
Expanding Creative Futures Across the Atlantic
The partnership represents an expansion of Creative Futures into the United States.
The initiative was launched in the United Kingdom in 2024 and was developed in partnership with The King’s Trust. It has provided young people with practical training, mentorship, industry exposure and professional networks across areas including film, television, music, visual arts, events and entrepreneurship.
The Elba Hope Foundation describes Creative Futures as a program designed to equip young people with the skills, confidence and networks needed to pursue creative careers. Its programming includes workshops, mentorship, portfolio development and opportunities for direct industry exposure. The foundation says more than 500 young people have participated in its Creative Futures community.
Focus on Access and Opportunity
The initiative is particularly focused on young people who may have talent and ambition but lack access to professional networks or information about how to enter the creative sector.
Idris Elba said the program is intended to create pathways into industries that young people might otherwise view as inaccessible. He and Sabrina Elba have positioned the foundation around expanding opportunity and developing routes toward sustainable careers.
Elba Hope Foundation Executive Director Marsha Reid said the partnership with WME NXT will allow Creative Futures to demonstrate not only Elba’s individual career journey but also the wider network of people, decisions and relationships that make creative work possible.
WME NXT’s Global Reach
The collaboration builds on WME NXT’s existing efforts to broaden access to the entertainment industry.
According to TheWrap, WME NXT launched in 2020 and has reached more than 27,000 participants across the United States, Africa and other international markets. Its programs have included digital learning, case studies, live conversations and direct engagement with artists, agents, executives and other industry leaders.
The initiative has also contributed to 60 hires across WME and its affiliates, with additional placements at organizations including Disney, HBO and MACRO.
Previous WME NXT speakers have included Ryan Reynolds, Marshawn Lynch and Ari Emanuel, adding a range of perspectives from entertainment, sports and business.
Creative Futures Builds on UK Government Support
Creative Futures has also received significant support in the United Kingdom.
In November 2025, the UK government announced £500,000 in funding to expand the program through The King’s Trust and the Elba Hope Foundation, with the goal of supporting an additional 400 young people aged 16 to 30 across England.
The expanded UK program has focused on young people who are not in education, employment or training, or who face significant barriers to entering creative careers.
Participants can access pathways covering social-development programs, pre-employment training and entrepreneurship. The program includes practical training, professional mentoring and routes toward employment, education, training and self-employment.
The UK government has noted that the country’s creative industries account for approximately 2.4 million jobs, with opportunities extending beyond London into cities and regions including Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool.
Preparing the Next Generation of Creative Professionals
The WME NXT partnership comes as the creative economy continues to expand beyond traditional film and television roles. Today’s entertainment ecosystem includes digital content, music, gaming, social media, visual arts, events, entrepreneurship, technology and new forms of production.
Creative Futures’ approach is therefore centered not simply on helping young people enter established industries, but on giving them practical tools to understand and navigate the broader creative economy.
The Elba Hope Foundation says its work is designed to center marginalized voices and support community-led solutions while helping young people build confidence, professional skills and meaningful networks.
Building a Bridge Between Talent and Opportunity
The partnership between Idris Elba’s foundation and WME NXT creates a bridge between emerging talent and an established global entertainment network.
