PSG College of Arts & Science and Advertising Club Madras Join Forces to Build the Next Generation of Advertising Talent: PSG College of Arts and Science and Advertising Club Madras have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and prepare the next generation of advertising and marketing talent through industry exposure, professional learning and engagement with practitioners.
The partnership will establish an Advertising Club Madras Student Chapter at PSG College of Arts and Science, providing students with opportunities to interact with industry professionals through mentoring, networking, industry sessions and leadership development. The collaboration will also include the joint conduct of the Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising (PGDA), an industry-oriented professional education programme designed to connect academic learning with the realities of the advertising profession.
By combining PSG College of Arts and Science’s academic legacy of over 79 years with Advertising Club Madras’s more than seven decades of contribution to the advertising industry, the partnership aims to nurture industry-ready talent and strengthen the connection between education and the evolving needs of advertising, marketing and communications.
Dr. T. Kannaian, Secretary, PSG College of Arts and Science, said, “Our focus is on creating opportunities that prepare students for the future. This collaboration brings academia and industry together in a structured and purposeful way, enabling students to gain industry perspectives and develop skills that complement their academic learning.”
Surej Salim, President, Advertising Club Madras, said, “The advertising industry has a responsibility to invest in its next generation of talent. We want to bring students closer to the people, ideas and practices shaping the industry, giving them opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, build meaningful connections and discover the possibilities within advertising and marketing. This partnership is an important step towards making that happen.”
Dr. M. Jayanthi, Principal, PSG College of Arts and Science, said, “Education becomes more meaningful when classroom learning connects with real-world industry experience. This partnership will help our students build relevant skills, confidence and professional perspectives, preparing them to navigate the evolving world of advertising and marketing.”
Kavitha Srinivasan, Secretary, Advertising Club Madras, said, “This partnership is an important step towards making industry engagement a more integral part of the student experience. By combining academic learning with professional interactions, we hope to give students the exposure and confidence to explore their potential and prepare for a dynamic industry.”
Saravanaa V, Director – Branding & Communications, Advertising Club Madras, said, “Strong brands are built on insight, creativity and an understanding of people. Through this initiative, we hope to help students appreciate the role of branding and communications in shaping businesses and connecting with audiences, while encouraging them to explore new ideas and develop their creative thinking. Balasubramanian S, Chair – Student Chapter, Advertising Club Madras, said, “The Student Chapter is envisioned as an active platform for learning, leadership and industry engagement—not just a series of guest lectures. We want students to take initiative, work collaboratively, understand real industry challenges and build the confidence to translate their learning into action.”
The Student Chapter is envisioned as a sustained platform for interaction between students and industry practitioners, encouraging continuous learning, professional exchange and leadership development beyond the classroom.
