MediaRadar Expands Sports Intelligence to Measure Total Brand Investment Across Advertising and Sponsorship: MediaRadar has announced the expansion of its sports intelligence capabilities with the introduction of Total Event Investment™, a new framework designed to give brands, agencies, media companies, sports properties and rights holders a broader view of how companies invest around major sporting events and cultural moments.

The new offering brings together previously fragmented information on television advertising, exclusive live-streaming sports advertising and sponsorship activity through MediaRadar’s newly introduced Insights Studio platform.

The company said the initiative recognizes that sports marketing extends well beyond traditional media buying. Brands can simultaneously invest in television and streaming advertisements while sponsoring teams, leagues, athletes and major events through broadcast integrations, virtual placements, stadium signage, equipment partnerships and creative campaigns.

World Cup Research Drives New Intelligence

MediaRadar said the development of Total Event Investment grew from its research surrounding the 2026 Men’s World Cup.

According to the company, 6,737 brands invested $1.42 billion across advertising, official sponsorships, athlete and national-team partnerships and creative campaigns connected to the tournament.

The research helped MediaRadar expand its existing sports advertising intelligence into sponsorship analytics, allowing customers to examine advertising and sponsorship as interconnected components of a broader marketing strategy.

“Total Event Investment brings those signals together to reveal the broader strategy behind how brands are investing across sports,” said Jay Nielsen, Vice President of Product at MediaRadar.

Computer Vision Tracks Brand Exposure

A key component of the expanded intelligence is MediaRadar’s proprietary Logo Recognition technology.

Using computer vision, the technology identifies brand logos and on-screen placements, converting visual exposure during sporting content into structured sponsorship intelligence. It works alongside MediaRadar’s machine-learning-powered Classification Engine, which organizes and enriches advertising data at scale.

The technology is intended to help marketers understand not only where a brand purchased advertising, but also where and how its sponsorship presence appeared within sports content.

From Individual Ads to Complete Event Strategies

MediaRadar said Total Event Investment is designed to move analysis beyond individual advertisements or sponsorship occurrences and toward a more comprehensive understanding of a brand’s commitment to an event.

The framework examines how brands participate before, during and after an event through media investment, sponsorship, creative strategy, activation timing and cross-channel activity.

Although initially developed for sports, the company said the framework could eventually be applied to other major cultural moments, including awards shows, championship events and extended tournaments or seasons.

Benefits for Brands, Agencies and Sports Properties

For brands and agencies, the expanded Sports Intelligence offering can help benchmark competitors, identify multi-sport investment strategies and examine the relationship between sponsorships, paid advertising and creative campaigns.

For leagues, teams, media companies and rights holders, the intelligence can provide greater visibility into which brands are investing across sports and potentially reveal new commercial opportunities.

Brett Joss, Head of Sponsorship Sales at Jomboy Media, said Total Event Investment provides a more complete picture of brand investment across major sports, helping organizations move from simply understanding the market toward identifying actionable opportunities.

Part of MediaRadar’s Broader AI Strategy

The sports expansion follows MediaRadar’s September launch of Insights Studio, an AI-native intelligence platform designed to connect the company’s proprietary advertising intelligence for both human users and AI agents.

MediaRadar says its broader intelligence ecosystem covers more than five million brands, 35 million-plus creative and campaign assets, $280 billion in media spend and more than 30 media channels.

The company is showcasing Total Event Investment at Advertising Week New York, running October 5–8, 2026. MediaRadar is also scheduled to continue the discussion during its October 22 webinar, “State of the Industry: The Convergence of Sports, Culture & Creative.”

With sports sponsorship becoming increasingly sophisticated across television, streaming, social media, live venues and athlete partnerships, MediaRadar’s latest initiative reflects a broader industry shift toward measuring the full economic and marketing footprint of major sporting events, rather than evaluating advertising and sponsorship as separate investments.
