The competition, organised by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) with commercial rights managed by Innovative Production Group FZ (IPG), will run from July 17 to August 8, 2026, featuring some of Sri Lanka’s top cricketers alongside leading international stars.

The 2026 edition of the Lanka Premier League will showcase 62 Sri Lankan players and 32 overseas cricketers, reinforcing the tournament’s growing reputation as one of the premier T20 franchise leagues in South Asia. Over the years, the LPL has attracted renowned international players and emerging talent, providing an important platform for player development while strengthening Sri Lanka’s domestic cricket ecosystem.

In addition to the television broadcast on Star Sports, fans in India will also be able to stream every match live on FanCode, which recently acquired the tournament’s exclusive digital streaming rights. The dual-platform strategy is expected to significantly expand the tournament’s reach, giving cricket enthusiasts the flexibility to watch matches on television or through digital devices.
The Lanka Premier League has steadily gained international recognition since its inception, featuring competitive franchise cricket and serving as an important pathway for Sri Lankan players to compete alongside experienced international professionals. The tournament has also become an attractive destination for overseas players seeking competitive T20 action ahead of major global events.
According to media industry reports, the partnership with Star Sports reflects the continued commercial growth of the Lanka Premier League and the increasing demand for franchise cricket beyond the Indian Premier League (IPL). With millions of cricket fans in India following international T20 leagues, the broadcast agreement is expected to boost viewership, enhance sponsorship opportunities, and further strengthen sporting ties between India and Sri Lanka.
